Sheriff’s Department offering free child safety-seat inspections

Sheriff’s deputies and county public health officials will conduct free child safety-seat inspections in Palm Desert Thursday morning.

The inspections will be done from 9 a.m. to noon at Palm Desert Soccer Park, 74735 Hoveley Lane East. The public is invited to bring their children, safety-seats and vehicles.

Certified technicians will inspect the safety-seat arrangements and offer advice on whether the setup is correct.

Common safety-seat mistakes include using the wrong harness slots, positioning the harness clip over an unsafe part of the child’s body, placing seat belts in the wrong place or not fastening the car seat or harness tightly enough.
