Coachella Councilmember resigns

Magdalena “Maggie” Zepeda has announced her resignation from Coachella City Council citing personal reasons, including her health, according to a statement released by the city late Thursday afternoon.

“I am resigning my position on the City Council for personal reasons, one of which deals with health matters,” said Zepeda, who has served on the council since Dec. 4, 2012.

“One of my greatest regrets is that I cannot help my constituents more or give the council position the dedication and devotion it deserves,” said Zepeda.

Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez says the City Council will meet in the coming days to evaluate its options to replace Zepeda.
