Transient arrested for punching female doctor at Loma Linda

A transient man was arrested Tuesday morning at Loma Linda Medical University Center on charges of seriously injuring a physician and threatening to kill her and her family.

Authorities said the physician was attending to 29-year-old Oscar A. Ruvalcaba regarding his medical status at the hospital just before 9 a.m. when Ruvalcaba became agitated.

According to deputies, Ruvalcaba began making threats and then stood up and punched the doctor in the face. The victim’s nose was fractured in two places due to the punch.

The sheriff’s department arrested Ruvalcaba on charges of battery upon a physician, battery with serious injuries and making terrorist threats, according to the release.

The physician was treated at the hospital and she was later released.
