Stray Evening Storms Still Possible Before Heat Builds Mid Week

Hurricane Polo made landfall early this morning and is quickly loosing it's luster without the warm E Pacific waters. As this broad system pushes NE from Mexico into SE Arizona and SW New Mexico it's allowing humidity to drop and drier air to return this afternoon.

That said--I am NOT ruling out a stray evening shower or thunderstorm because a branch of this broad system is curling off to the NW and wrapping back around through Southern Nevada and SoCal late this afternoon. This currently looks more impressive than yesterday's setup--so don't be shocked if we start seeing a few pop up storms--especially on the NE side of town.

High pressure is going to begin strengthening over SoCal this week, pushing temperatures from the mid-90s today to near 100 degrees Wednesday through Friday and slightly warmer--3-5 degrees above average from this weekend into mid next week.

Gusty west winds are still possible near the San Gorgonio Pass and along our I-10 corridor this evening. Strongest gusts near Banning, ~40–45mph.

Big talker moving forward is our warming trend--as this is shaping up to be a prolonged heat wave, with Major HeatRisk possible across the lower desert. Saturday and Sunday currently looking like the hottest day of the stretch before 102 degrees by next Wednesday.
