Driver rescued after becoming stranded in flood waters

Jennifer Furhman with Cal Fire said a man had to be rescued from atop his vehicle after it became stuck in flood waters Friday night.

The vehicle was stranded on the 42000 block of Bob Hope Drive, which is in the Rancho Las Palmas Country Club. Cal Fire was called to the scene at 9 p.m.

Officials initially said the rescue was taking place at the wash on Bob Hope Drive, which has an elevated bridge so the location of the rescue wasn’t immediately clear.

We haven’t heard what type of vehicle the man was driving at this time and Furhman said they aren’t quite sure how it happened.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will follow up with more information as soon as it becomes available.
