Driver arrested for DUI in Palm Desert crash
A driver injured herself and another motorist when their vehicles collided at a Palm Desert intersection in a crash police say was affected by the use of controlled substances.
The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Portola Avenue and Silver Sands Parkway in Palm Desert, said Sgt. Matthew Koser of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
A beige Lincoln LS heading north on Portola Avenue crashed into a vehicle stopped at a red light. The crash left both drivers hurt and the Lincoln turned onto its side, blocking the intersection, Koser said. Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash and were taken to a hospital.
Police said they determined that the Lincoln’s driver, Jennifer Curtis of La Quinta, 29, was driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
Curtis was arrested for suspicion of DUI and possession of a controlled substance, Koser said. She was booked at the Riverside County jail in Indio.
