Inaugural ‘Petathon’ held to benefit Coachella Valley shelter pets
It’s a telethon — but for animals. News Channel 3 helped the Coachella Valley’s shelter pets at the inaugural petathon to benefit Loving All Animals on Wednesday at Westfield Palm Desert.
You have until 7 p.m . Wednesday to donate:
In person, 72840 Hwy 111, Palm Desert, 92260
Call Loving All Animals at 760 834-7000
Visit LovingAllAnimals.org
By Wednesday afternoon, the organization had already received $15,000 in donations.
Lindi Biggi, founder of Loving All Animals, said she knows the valley has a long course ahead as it runs toward a No-Kill Coachella Valley.
“No-kill means 90 percent live exit rate, right now 50 percent of animals in our valley shelters don’t make it out alive,” Biggi said.
During a trip to Oregon, she learned something that might give the Coachella Valley an edge in that no-kill journey.
“They did a telethon and they raised so much money, and I thought, ‘Oh my gosh,” she said.
After a lot of teamwork and endurance from the entire organization, the Loving All Animals inaugural petathon became a reality. There was 13 hours of animal lover activities in store for the event.
Ritzy 2 U was offering grooming services, Animal Action League was on hand to perform low-cost microchipping, and certainly not least, a doggy fashion show was held.
News Channel 3’s Bianca Rae was at the event throughout the day with her rescue dog ‘Jack’. Her full report with all of the video from the fun-filled day will be added here soon.
