Eastbound lanes of I-10 expected to open Thursday night following big rig crash

The California Highway Patrol responded after a big rig overturned on eastbound I-10 by the Whitewater rest area just before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 were on scene of the crash when the driver of the big rig was extricated from the wreckage. He was able to walk to a stretcher with some help.

The crash affected eastbound traffic on I-10. Two lanes were expected to be closed until about 6 p.m. while crews worked to upright the big rig. Traffic was backed up in the area throughout the day.

Be cautious if you’re driving in the area. You may want to take an alternate route for the time being or expect delays if you’re driving eastbound.
