Police dog helps arrest 2 suspected burglars in Palm Springs

A man and woman were arrested in Palm Springs last week after officers said they broke into a home and tried to barricade themselves inside a room when authorities arrived.

Kendrick Massie, a 25-year-old transient, reportedly broke a window at a residence in the 1100 block of San Lorenzo Road around 7:35 p.m. Thursday. A witness called police to tell them the man entered the home through the broken window and then opened the door to let a woman inside the residence.

The woman was identified as 28-year-old Indio resident Samantha House.

When the Palm Springs Police Department arrived, officers determined the suspects were still inside. They refused to exit the home and they unsuccessfully attempted to barricade one of the door to a room.

A police K-9 was sent into the room and and apprehended Massie. House was also taken into custody at that time. They were both booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

They both face felony charges of first degree burglary.
