CHP revises Thanksgiving DUI arrest report

California Highway Patrol officers from the Indio station arrested 26 people on suspicion of driving under the influence over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, not 16, as the agency announced previously, Officer Mike Radford said Tuesday.

This year’s arrests were still down from 32 last year, but up from 17 drunken driving bookings during the holiday period in 2013, Officer Radford said.

For the third consecutive year, there were no fatal crashes in the station’s jurisdiction during the CHP’s maximum enforcement period, which ran from 6:01 p.m. Wednesday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Radford said.

Officers also responded to 16 non-fatal traffic crashes, down from 24 last year, but up from 13 two years ago.
