FBI director issues statement in San Bernardino
On Tuesday, FBI Director James Comey and David Bowdich, assistant director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, met with FBI personnel and federal, state and local law enforcement partners who responded to the December 2nd mass shooting in San Bernardino.
The terrorist attack claimed the lives of 14 victims and injured 22 others.
Authorities said Director Comey also met with emergency service responders, victim specialists and community leaders in the San Bernardino area.
Director Comey issued the following statement while in San Bernardino:
“Our hearts continue to ache for the families and friends who were so violently robbed of loved ones on the morning of December 2nd, and for the surviving victims,” said FBI Director James Comey. “While we can’t undo this cowardly act and the impact it’s had on the victims, the community of San Bernardino and the nation, the FBI and our skilled partners offer our full support now and in the days ahead, and our commitment to work tirelessly to prevent such attacks in the future.”
Enrique Marquez, the Riverside man accused of purchasing two semi-automatic rifles that were used by the terrorists in the attack, appeared in federal court Monday but a bail-review hearing was slightly delayed so he can confer with defense attorneys.
