Alleged drunk driver crashes into Palm Desert home

An alleged drunk driver capped off his New Year’s Eve by crashing his car into a Palm Desert home Friday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Dept.

Javier Mateo Chacon, 52, of Pico Rivera, was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving following an early morning crash in a Palm Desert residential neighborhood.

At 5:19 a.m., Chacon allegedly crashed his vehicle into a home on Clavel Court, near Palm Desert High School, said Sgt. Michael Gaunt. Neither Chacon nor any of the home’s residents were injured.

Chacon was treated and released from a hospital before being booked at the Riverside County jail in Indio, where he was being held today in lieu of $2,500, according to jail records.
