Rain causes several accidents on Interstate Ten

The California Highway Patrol was very busy late Tuesday afternoon working several accidents caused by rain slick roadways.

According to CHP officers, there were about different accidents near Whitewater just around 3:00 Monday afternoon. Several cars reportedly went off the roadway, and a truck carrying empty crates flipped over, dropping the load on the wet freeway.

Two lanes in the Eastbound lanes were shut down for several hours while crews worked to clear the spill. Traffic going Eastbound was backed up about 10 miles according to the CHP website. There were no serious injuries in the crashes.

CHP Officers warn drivers to slow down on the wet roadways. Even though the speed limit says 70 mph, they suggest you drive slower to avoid collisions.
