Winchell’s Donut shop robbed in Cathedral City

Police in Cathedral City say a masked man robbed a Winchell’s Donut shop in the 34-000 block of Date Palm Drive Wednesday afternoon just after 4:30.

The Hispanic man was wearing a black ski mask with a skull print and all black clothing.

He brandished a gun before demanding cash.The man fired a shot into the air before leaving the scene. No injuries were reported.

No word on what the robber took.

The suspect was described as a HMA about 5’9, medium build wearing dark clothing, and possible left the area in an unknown type vehicle. The suspect was armed with a small handgun.

This investigation is continuing but police are asking the public for assistance in providing information that may help identify or locate a suspect.
