18-year-old woman arrested for DUI after crashing into pole
An 18-year-old Indio woman was arrested early Thursday morning for allegedly driving under the influence of prescription drugs and crashing her car into a traffic light in Palm Desert.
The crash was reported at 10:55 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Country Club Drive and Washington Street, sheriff’s Sgt. Michael Gaunt said.
Deputies alleged Melissa Alexandra Perez crashed into the traffic signal pole on the northwest corner of the intersection while under the influence of a prescription medication, Gaunt said. She was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, then booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio, Gaunt said.
