Man accused of DUI after crashing into apartment complex

A 26-year-old Desert Hot Springs man was arrested Tuesday night after crashing into an apartment building in Palm Desert.

Officers responded to the crash just before 10 p.m. in the 74000 block of Magnesia Falls Drive.

Authorities said Samuel Belmonte was driving on Rutledge Way when he lost control of his vehicle and collided into the building. Belmonte wasn’t seriously hurt and there were no injuries to anyone inside the apartment.

Officers determined Belmonte was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was booked at the Riverside County Jail in Indio after being cleared from the hospital.

Anyone with information on this collision is encouraged to call the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1600.
