PDHS football coach retires after 22 years

Palm Desert High School’s football coach, Pat Blackburn, said he’s retiring after 22 years with the Aztecs.

Blackburn told KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2’s Sports Director Blake Arthur about the decision Monday afternoon.

Blackburn has built an impressive resume with the Aztecs:

140 + wins
3 DVL titles (3 times DVL Coach of the Year)
17 times in the playoffs, 14 years in a row
Won at least one playoff game 7 years in a row (2002-2009)
15 times ranked in top 10 in CIF division
9 times reached quarter finals
3 times reached semi-finals
1 time finalist
Sent over 40 players on to college football
Sent 3 players to professional football (2 NFL, 1 CFL)
