People to protest Obama’s proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement during summitt

As President Obama hosts southeast Asian nations’ leaders at the Sunnylands Estate for an international economic forum, some Californians will hold a protest against the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade agreement, a pact they say would lead to a global race-to-the-bottom in wages, working conditions and environmental standards.

The TPP was signed by the Obama administration and eleven other nations earlier this month, but its ratification faces an uphill battle in Congress. The TPP is one of the topics being discussed at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit being held in Rancho Mirage on Monday and Tuesday.
