Almost a dozen ducklings saved in La Quinta

Almost a dozen ducklings were plucked from a storm drain inside a La Quinta golf resort.

The rescue started shortly after 2 p.m. Friday, when a concerned resident at the La Quinta golf estates reported seeing the ducklings fall into the storm drain.

Animal control said 11 ducklings were about 25 feet down the drain.

Since it was too dangerous to enter the tight drain, the officers lowered a large cage to scoop them up.

Animal control said they’ll care for them at the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms until they transfer them to the Coachella Valley Wild Bird Center in Indio.

This is the second duckling rescue this week here in the valley.

The first one was at Oasis Country Club in Palm Desert.
