Palm Springs to hold special meeting on top staff members

The Palm Springs City Council will meet in special closed session Wednesday night to hold evaluations on the city manager and city attorney. The meeting was called by Mayor Robert Moon.

Last week, Mayor Moon called for reviews of David Ready and Doug Holland. Moon made that announcement at the end of a long council meeting in the early morning hours last Thursday.

The mayor said his call for the meeting wasn’t the result of an FBI raid last year at City Hall, but he’s indicated it may be time for fresh leadership.

Other city council members didn’t seem to agree, telling News Channel 3 an annual review is already scheduled for this summer and it was inappropriate to bring up the issue during an open session.

Wednesday’s special meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Palm Springs City Hall. Public comments will be taken before the council adjourns to closed session.
