Palm Springs Firefighters to hold annual fish fry

This weekend, Palm Springs residents can enjoy some outdoor seafood barbecue prepared by the city’s firefighters during an annual event supporting the Palm Springs Fire Department.

The Palm Springs Firemen’s Association will host its 85th annual Fish Fry Saturday night from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Ruth Hardy Park, in what has become a regular tradition benefiting the local fire department.

The inaugural event was held in June 1931, when the fire department was entirely made up of volunteers.

This year’s Fish Fry will feature fresh Idaho trout, corn on the cob, watermelon, hamburgers, hot dogs, soda, water and beer. Dinner will be served until 9 p.m., but the live music and dancing will continue until 11 p.m.

“The Palm Springs Firemen’s Association’s annual Fish Fry is a much loved city tradition that keeps getting better every year,” Palm Springs Fire Chief Kevin Nalder said.

Admission is $10 per person. Tickets can be purchased at Fire Station 2, located at 300 N. El Cielo Road, or Saturday at Ruth Hardy Park.
