Investigators release name of man who died on Bump & Grind trail

KESQ and CBS Local 2 has confirmed with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department that a man has died near the Bump & Grind hiking trail in Palm Desert Tuesday night.

The man who died was identified as 61-year-old Mark Myden of Rancho Mirage.

A hiker called authorities at 8:15 p.m. and said he found Myden face-down suffering from a medical emergency, according to Cal Fire officials.

Authorities began staging near Highway 111 and Parkview Drive at about 8:40 p.m. They began walking up to the Bump and Grind Trail in three groups to locate the 61-year-old because they didn’t have air support, officials said.

Myden was deceased when Cal Fire crews found him. They have launched an active investigation into his death.

KESQ and CBS Local 2 will have more details as the investigation moves forward.
