Firefighters respond to mobile home fire in Desert Hot Springs

UPDATE 3:44 p.m.

Crews have contained the fire.

Two mobile homes and two vehicles were destroyed by the fire.

One resident has been treated for minor burns.

UPDATE 3:22 p.m.

One of the homeowners says she and her husband were in the house when the fire started.

An air conditioning repair man was working outside when the fire started.

The repair man says the fire started in a bedroom.

The homeowner’s husband sustained burns on his feet.

The homeowner says her two pets, a dog and a cat, remain missing. Neighbors believe they escaped from the house.

Firefighters said propane tanks were in the house, but likely did not contribute to the fire.

At 1:30pmCAL FIRE/Riverside County Firefighters are on scene of two double wide mobile homes in theCaliente Springs community on Raquelita and Vista Way in Desert Hot Springs.

The Incident Commander has requested The American Red Cross to assist with one elderly male and one elderly female displaced by the fire.

No word yet on major injuries.
