Smoke seen in valley from Santa Barbara fire

If you’re seeing smoke in the Coachella Valley on Thursday, it’s not from a local fire, the smoke is actually coming from a fire burning in Santa Barbara, according to Cal Fire.

The Sherpa Fire has burned over 1,200 acres in Santa Barbara County. It sparked Wednesday at 3:21 p.m. Now drift smoke is making its way into the Coachella Valley.

Evacuation orders have been issued.

The fire is burning on the Camino Cielo Ridge, 11 miles north of Goleta, according to the incident report.
