Man pleads not gulty in murder of roommate
50-year old Scott Pettigrew pleaded not guilty Friday to murder and abuse charges in the death of his roommate in Cathedral City.
Pettigrew is accused of murdering 66-year old Anita Cowen.
Last week, Cowen filed a restraining order against him claiming she had multiple altercations with him.
On Tuesday, police arrived at the home after being tipped-off by one of Cowen’s friends about another altercation.
Police found her unresponsive in the backyard.
Her cause of death has not been released.
Pettigrew is due back in court at the end of the month.
