Locals almost left without electricity for record heat Monday

With the temperatures sizzling to record temperatures on Monday, many will have their air conditioning working overtime.

If you have the day off you might find a local pool to cool off in, or kick back and enjoy your cool air with an ice cold tea but many Palm Springs residents almost didn’t have that opportunity.

“I didn’t want to leave them in the heat, we made arrangements to go over to my sons.” First year Palm Springs resident Dale Simkins said.

“Planned power outage for the 20th of June, the temperatures supposed to be 120 degrees so why are they doing it now instead of in February or March?” Steve Hembd of Palm Springs added.

After countless phone calls and inquires, sometimes resilience and determination is what it takes. The Power outage is now pushed back to June 30th.

“I just started calling Southern Cal Ddison a couple of times, the first time they were supposed to get back to me and didn’t and I called later that day and the women was adamant that they can’t change it so I emailed Raul Ruiz, Kamala Harris.” Hembd added.

“I think it’s mostly the elderly, I know my neighbor is on dialysis and all so she had to make plans to go somewhere so they could do her dialysis, so Debby was more than glad than all of us.” Simkins said.

With the date changed to June 30th, they can only hope for Cooler days ahead.

“If these are planned outages, I don’t know why they can’t plan them for when it’s a little cooler, it’s the middle of summer and it doesn’t seem to me that it makes a lot of sense. Truthfully we are all a little apprehensive because how do we know that June 30th isn’t going to be just as hot?” Manager of Parkwood Chrisitan Jensen finished.
