Power restored after thousands in the dark overnight

Update 2:08 a.m.

All power has been restored in North Indio after an overnight power outage.

If you still have no power, please check your main breaker or call IID at (800) 303-7756.

UPDATE 12:08 a.m. – Imperial Irrigation District says equipment failure is the cause of outage and 2,503 customers are still without power.

According to IID’s Facebook page, the estimated restoration time is four hours. The location of the outage is Avenue 42 and surrounding areas. IID says if you need detail information to call them at (800) 303-7756.

Thousands of Imperial Irrigation District customers in north Indio lost power Wednesday night around 9:45.

IID spokesperson Marion Champion says the cause is unknown and a troubleshooter is in route.

The outage is impacting 2,503 customers in the area of Avenue 42, says Champion.

However on Facebook, residents say the outage is much larger, and includes the communities of Sun City Shadow Hills, Foxstone, Desert Trace, Senora Wells and Paradiso.

The temperature in the area at 10:00 p.m. was 95 degrees.

No estimated time for restoration is available.
