Suspect arrested for armed robbery in La Quinta

A 24-year-old Indio man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of using a weapon to rob a La Quinta gas station the night before.

Investigators identified Vicente Angel Munoz as the suspect, he’s being held at the Riverside County Jail in Indio on charges of second degree robbery, according to jail records.

La Quinta police were called to USA Gas, located in the 79400 block of Highway 111, Tuesday at 11:49 p.m. Witnesses said the suspect pulled a weapon on the victim and took merchandise from the store before running from the scene.

Authorities found Munoz at about 3 p.m. Wednesday in the 80-000 block of Avenue 48 in Indio. He was arrested and booked for armed robbery. He’s being held on $30,000 bail and is due at the Larson Justice Center on Friday, jail records show.

Police didn’t say what type of weapon was used in the robbery. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Thermal Sheriff’s Station at 760-863-8990.
