Palm Springs Police looking for computer store burglary suspect

Business wasn’t as usual for Daniel Algazi at DA Computers on Crossley Road Wednesday, after getting an early start after security footage captured a man crashing his car into the store. “It’s ridiculous that you would have to worry about something along these scales,” Algazi said. “Burglary is one thing. This is taken to a whole new level.” While the damage has already been done, Algazi said the measures they already had in place that helped play in a role in the burglary not being any worse. “We have several securities in our store, iron bars, break proof glass, divider walls, extra locks on everything,” Algazi said. “So they didn’t really get away with anything too much, but the amount of damage they did with their vehicle is like $70,000 to $100,000.” Palm Springs Police (PSPD) officers said clear surveillance video in the store will play a significant role in the investigation. “Anytime you have videos and any kind of information like that, maybe a family member, a friend, a foe recognizes the individual,” Lt. Mike Kovaleff said. “And [it] will help provide the information which will help us solve the crime.” Which Algazi said he hopes happens soon. “You’re not stealing from a corporation, you’re stealing from me individually,” Algazi said. “I’m a person, as well as you, and this kind of stuff isn’t appreciated.” Algazi said they still will be open for business, but they will have more security around the store. PSPD officers said the man caught on the video is described as a heavy-set, hispanic male with a goatie, driving around in a dark sedan. If you have any information on this burglary call Valley Crimestoppers at (760) 341-STOP. Tips can remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a cash reward.
