Two desert intersections rank most dangerous in the state
A new study by a San Diego law firm has ranked the most dangerous intersections in the state and two of them are in the Coachella Valley.
The study was done by the law firm Estey & Bomberger by using accident reports in every intersection in the state from 2015.
The group compiled a score for the 444 most dangerous intersections and ranked them. The score is based on the number of fatalities, injuries and accidents that happened in a particular intersection that year.
The intersection of Clinton Street and Fred Warring in Indio came in at No. 243 and the intersection of Monterey Avenue and Dinah Shore drive came in at No. 432.
The firm that compiled this study is going to continue researching these intersections and hopes local governments will take a look at the data and try to find ways to make them safer.
“Facts don’t lie, so I think it would be a great resource for them to look at,” said Mike Bomberger a partner at Estey & Bomberger.
Bomberger says much more research needs to be done to see exactly why certain intersections are more deadly or dangerous.
More than 90 percent of the dangerous intersections in the state are located in Southern California.
