Update on Roy’s Resource Center in Palm Springs

The homeless committee met to discuss the future of Roy’s Resource Center in Palm Springs on Wednesday morning.

According to the Coachella Valley Association of governments, the organization that currently runs the facility, the Jewish Family Services of San Diego, will no longer run the facility once their contract in June 2017.

Erica Felci, a spokesperson for CVAG says that no decision was made at the meeting Wednesday morning on the future of the center.

Felci also said that, “a long-term strategy was discussed which involves transition: turning existing facility into more of a health-services program and/or looking new sites for a more traditional shelter.”

Felci says that CVAG hopes to have a plan by the end of the current fiscal year.

The committee is scheduled to meet again next month.
