Police investigate after man shot to death in Cathedral City

The Cathedral City Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that happened Sunday night near Ortega Road and Rancho Vista Drive.

Authorities said they were called to the shooting at about 10:20 p.m.. When officers arrived they found 23-year-old Jonathan Becerra lying unconscious on the side of the road with an apparent gunshout wound. Medics with the Cathedral City Fire Department responded but Becerra died from his injuries at 10:31 p.m., according to the release.

Cathedral City police detectives are looking into the deadly shooting. At this time, they haven’t identified any suspects and they’re trying to determine the motive. Officers are looking for information from the public as the investigation continues.
