Locals pack malls and retailers for Black Friday
Locals in the Coachella Valley packed malls and retail stores across the region for Black Friday shopping, which has become a tradition that’s now synonymous with Thanksgiving. Many stores has already opened early on Thursday to give shoppers who just couldn’t wait a head start.
For shoppers at the Best Buy in Palm Desert, electronics were all the rage. One shopper bought a printer and a big screen TV.
“So far it’s been great,” Pamela Rueda, a Palm Desert resident, said. “We started last night last minute and we pretty much covered three fourths of our list.”
According to the National Retail Federation, about 137 million American are expected to shop during the four day Thanksgiving holiday weekend. One shopper at the Westfield Palm Desert said she was having getting all of her items on her list.
“It was really smooth,” Tania Sumano, a Bermuda Dunes resident, said. “I loved the fact that we here in the valley can shop without being you know tackles at the door anything like that so I’m happy with that.”
It wasn’t as smooth for one young man as he forgot the most important thing needed to enjoy Black Friday.
“Make sure you bring money because I only brought $40 and I could only afford two shirts and I left my credit card at home,” Bryan Garcia, a Catherdral City resident.
