Travelers battle post-holiday traffic

A record number of travelers hit the road this Thanksgiving weekend, and Sunday they all made their ways back home. A weekend of filling dinner plates and shopping bags, turned into a day of filling gas tanks. “We still have a long ways to go but we’re hoping to fill up here, get some food in our systems, and get back on the road,” said Lance Gibson, a holiday traveler, headed back to Valencia. According to AAA , drivers paid the cheapest Thanksgiving gas prices since 2008. “This is the lowest I’ve seen it in maybe 8 years,” said one traveler. Traffic was backed up for miles on the west bound side of interstate 10. Many motorists hoped to find alternate routes to avoid the traffic jam, and most braced themselves for the long trek home. “You just gotta be patient, especially if you’re pulling a trailer,” said Albert Briones, who was driving from Parker, AZ back home to Norco, CA. After the long weekend, most travelers say it’s time to get back to reality. “Kids have school and stuff. Everyone has get back to their daily routines,” Briones said. “Like all good things must come to an end, we have to go back to work,” said another motorist.
