Two people dead after multiple big rigs overturn on I-10

A person killed in an overturned big rig crash near the Cactus City Rest Area on Saturday morning has been identified.

Riverside County corner’s office has identified the man as 42 year old Raleigh Guillory, of Marksville, Louisiana.

A second person, whose name has not yet been released, also died in the same big rig that overturned on the westbound side of Interstate 10 near Mecca Saturday morning.

One semi trailer was reported overturned just east of the Cactus City rest area around 5 a.m.

A second big rig overturned shortly after. Riverside County Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team and County Environmental Health Officials were called to clean up a diesel fuel spill. The spill was cleaned up by 2:30 p.m.

A third big rig also overturned nearby, no injures were reported in this incident.

I-10 westbound was closed for about an hour while CHP turned the first big rig upright.

California Highway Patrol says it is not known how the rollovers occurred, but believe that wind gusts may be a factor.
