Tour de Palm Springs to change name and city

The iconic Tour de Palm Springs charity bike ride will undergo a new name change, and a new venue.

Thursday night Palm Desert’s City Council voted unanimously to host the Tour de Palm Springs on El Paseo from 2018 until at least 2022.

Organizer Tim Esser says the Tour has suffered in recent years due to scheduling conflicts with Palm Springs Modernism Week.

“The name change will be discussed at a later time, however Tour de Palm Springs “in Palm Desert” will be high on list to be considered,” says Esser.

Thousands of riders take part in the Tour de Palm Springs, raising thousands of dollars for roughly 100 charities in the Coachella Valley.
