Joshua Tree man arrested after chase in Yucca Valley

A Joshua Tree man is in jail after leading deputies on a chase through Yucca Valley Sunday morning on a dirt bike.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputies said they tried to stop 40-year-old Timothy Smith for multiple traffic violations just after 1:30 a.m.

Smith then led Deputies on a two and a half mile chase through residential streets and the desert, even reaching speeds of more than 90 miles per hour.

Deputies arrested Smith after he crashed his bike in a wash near La Contenta Road and Sunnyslope Drive in Yucca Valley.

Smith has been booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for felony evading.
