Police make arrest in deadly Desert Hot Springs shooting

Desert Hot Springs police announced an arrest in a deadly Tuesday morning shooting along the 66100 block of Second Street.

Residents called police to report hearing several gunshots fired at 2:56 a.m. less than a block east of the Desert Hot Springs Library, the Edward L. Wenzlaff Education Center and the Carl May Community Center.

Officers found a man on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs where he was pronounced dead.

Second street was cordoned off to all traffic and pedestrians as police investigated. The road was expected to remain closed for several hours between West Drive and Cactus Drive.

Detectives interviewed several witnesses and identified Eduardo Stultz, 23, of Cathedral City as a suspect in the homicide.

Police tracked Stultz to a home along the 28700 block of Landau Boulevard in Cathedral City where he was taken into custody Tuesday night shortly after 9:00 p.m.

He’s now facing murder charges and is being held at the Riverside County Jail in Banning.
