Truck crashes into light pole, driver nowhere to be found

UPDATE: Varner Road is back open.

ORGINAL STORY:

California Highway Patrol is on scene of a crash on Ramon and Varner in Thousand Palms. A truck hit a tree, a light pole and broke a water line. It overturned and is off the road and in the bushes.

It happened around 5 am.

There is a broken water line spraying onto live wires.

Irrigation has been shut down. IID is checking right now on the water line.

The left lane of Varner westbound will remain closed as crews clean up and asses the damage.
