Coachella City Council appoints Finance Director as Interim City Manager

The Coachella City Council on Wednesday appointed Finance Director Bill Pattison as acting city manager in preparation for the retirement of City Manager David Garcia.

Garcia, 62, has worked as Coachella’s city manager since June 10, 2010. Garcia informed city officials of his plans to retire in November. His retirement becomes effective Jan. 4.

“Our city is blessed to have great staff, our council is resolute and we are in good shape to continue serving our residents well,” said Mayor Steven Hernandez. “We thank David for his service to the community and wish him well.”

The next regular City Council meeting is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11.
