Mecca breaks ground on city’s first Denny’s

Mecca officals were on hand as Chandi Group USA broke ground on the first nationally branded, sit-down restaurant in the community of Mecca on Monday.

More than a dozen local dignitaries, business owners and elected officials were in attendance at the site of the upcoming Denny’s restaurant, which will be built at the Mecca Travel Center on 904770 66th Avenue.

The Denny’s is projected to create 60 jobs, as well as 75 construction jobs

“We’re extremely proud to bring the first sit-down, family style restaurant to Mecca,” said Nachhattar Chandi, CEO of Chandi Group USA. “Denny’s is known as ‘America’s diner, so it’s an ideal addition to the Mecca Travel Center. The Chandi Group is committed to creating jobs, and providing goods and services in the Eastern Coachella Valley.”

Construction will begin in January, it is projected to be open by the middle of 2017.
