Memorial services for firefighter Sara Thomas have concluded

Funeral services for veteran firefighter Sara Thomas are underway Tuesday morning following a memorial service held in her honor at Southwest Church in Indian Wells. Thomas’ body was taken to Coachella Valley Cemetery Tuesday afternoon for a private burial with her family and friends.

Thomas, 41, mother of 7-year-old twin girls, was diagnosed with stage-four terminal cancer in December of 2015. A GoFundMe account was set up with a goal of raising $25,000 for the Sara Thomas Fund to cover costs of alternative medication and the time she was spending away from her home to receive treatment.

According to Public Safety Information Officer Tawny Castro, Thomas’ memorial service will take place on Tuesday, February 7 at 10 a.m. at Southwest Church, located at 41775 Washington Street in Indian Wells. KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 will have live coverage throughout the day.
