NRCC targets Congressman Raul Ruiz
National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Steve Stivers announced Wednesday the initial offensive targets for the 2018 cycle. These 36 seats are held by Democrats that the NRCC believes are out of touch with their districts and will be targeted by the NRCC for the next 21 months, according to Stivers.
“The success of our government depends on Republicans maintaining a strong majority in the House. We owe the American people assurance that the agenda we were elected on – healthcare reform, a stronger national defense, and more good-paying jobs – is fulfilled,” said Stivers.
Roy Behr, Rep. Ruiz Political Consultant released the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
“This was just a routine announcement designed to try to entice a Republican candidate into the race. The NRCC made similar announcements in 2014 and 2016, and then ignored the race when it became clear that Congressman Ruiz was extremely popular with voters. As in previous elections, we will run an aggressive race in 2018, outlining the many ways that Congressman Ruiz has helped local veterans, seniors, and families.”
