Indian Canyons now open after mountain lion spotting
The Indian Canyons will open at its regular time Tuesday at 8 a.m. and operate on its normal schedule until 5 p.m. The canyons were closed temporarily Monday as a precaution due to a mountain lion sighting. The mountain lion has moved back into higher ground away from public access areas.
KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2 went to the canyons to speak to hikers on Monday during the evacuation.
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians owns and operates the Indian Canyons, which includes about 60 miles of hiking and walking trails.
As always in the Indian Canyons and elsewhere in wilderness, visitors should be alert and aware of wildlife that may be living in the area.
