Oscars watch parties benefit local charities
The stars weren’t the only ones walking the red carpet on Oscars Sunday . L ocal residents spent their evening watching the Academy Awards on the big screen.
The red carpet was rolled out and people were dressed to impress.
“We wanted to enjoy the red carpet on Oscar night,” said one viewer.
“It’s fun to view and take a look at the celebrities, and talk to all your local people and take part in the festivities,” said another viewer.
Vicky’s of Santa Fe hosted a watch party to benefit Variety, The Children’s Charity of the Desert.
Meanwhile, an Oscars party on El Paseo raised about $30,000 for Palm Spring’s Women in Film and Television.
People sat back and enjoyed the show at the Mary Pickford Theatre in Cathedral City, while being treated to appetizers, champagne, and even comedy acts from live hosts.
“It’s a good charity for the Aids Foundation and the Center so we figured it was a good way to drop 100 bucks and watch a good show,” one spectator said.
