Steady climb continues for area gas prices

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in the Inland Empire rose Thursday to its highest amount since Jan. 12, 2016, increasing nine-tenths of a cent to $2.988.

The average price in Riverside and San Bernardino counties has risen 30 consecutive days, increasing 18.8 cents, including four-tenths of a cent on Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price is 5.8 cents more than one week ago, 17.6 cents higher than one month ago and 52.3 cents greater than one year ago.

The streak of increases is the longest since a 35-day run from Jan. 31- March 6, 2015.
