Urn necklace with child’s remains stolen from couple

Deputies in Yucca Valley arrested an 18-year-old man on charges of burglary and possession of stolen property on Tuesday.

Authorities said they were able to recover some of the stolen property that was taken from the home in the 57000 block of Hidden Gold Drive, but they’re still searching for one item in particular; a pendant necklace urn holding the ashes of the victim’s child who passed away.

The burglary happened on Friday, March 3. The victims arrived home and found a male inside the residence. When the suspect was confronted, he ran out of the home and left in a dark colored vehicle.

Through the investigation and witness testimony, deputies said they were able to identify the suspect as 18-year-old Charles Roberts. Authorities contacted Roberts at Black Rock High School in Yucca Valley. He allowed them to search his car and that’s when authorities found some of the reported stolen property.

Roberts was arrested for burglary and possession of stolen property.

There are several items still unaccounted for, and deputies are particularly hoping the public can help the victims reunite with their missing pendant urn holding their child’s remains. There were two pendant urns at the home, but only one of them was stolen.

The urn is in the shape of a cross and has the word “Faith” inscribed on one side. Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of the pendant urn is asked to call the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at (909) 387-3545.

Anyone who located the necklace can turn it over to any member of the sheriff’s department with no questions asked of them, deputies said in a release.

Following Roberts’ arrest, authorities served a search warrant at his residence on San Marino Drive where they located a firearm that was reported stolen in an unrelated investigation. While serving the search warrant, the sheriff’s department said 20-year-old Martin Guzman arrived at the scene and deputies found a loaded firearm in his vehicle, for which he was also arrested.
