Palm Springs’ Chalk Art Festival

Artists of all ages came out for the Palm springs chalk art festival at palm springs high today. professional *and* student artists created their best master piece using only chalk and the side walk as their canvas! artists competed for a number of prizes including — 1–thousand dollars for “best in show” — 700 dollars for first place — 500 for second — and 250 dollars for third! but that’s not all — people’s choice winner — went home with a palm springs weekend basket full of hotel and dinning certficates! all proceeds from the event go straight to the palm springs sun-up rotary foundation and arts programs for schools in the palm springs district. “it keeps getting bigger and bigger every year and you know art is a really big part of education and it’s been under funded for many years. so we like to give back to that so we can keep arts in the schools.” if you want to check out the art work — you can go by the palm springs high school parking lot — under the solar panels.
