American Cancer Society hosts 15th annual Relay for Life of Indio

The American Cancer Society is hosting their 15th annual Relay for Life of Indio. Cancer survivors and supporters joined together Saturday to help raise awareness and funds towards finding a cure for cancer.

Teams sold food, hats, jewelry and more. The morning kicked off with a special recognition for late County Supervisor John Benoit.

“His work, his memory, having passed because of cancer and this being a cancer fundraiser, community awareness, education, an opportunity to raise funds for research, it was an easy match to select and honor a community hero,” Relay for Life volunteer Lucy Moreno said.

Fallen firefighter Sara Thomas was also honored earlier in the evening.
