Donations being raised for boy who survived school shooting

Leon and Rachel Brandy, the parents of the surviving North Park Elementary School shooting victim Nolan Brandy, shared a photo of their son as he recovers at the hospital. They wish to thank the community for the outpouring of support and prayers.

A Go Fund Me account has been started to help the family as Nolan recovers from his injuries.

They said they are happy to inform everyone that Nolan, 9, is recovering very well.

“We are grateful,” the family stated. “Please continue to pray for him and also for Jonathan Martinez’s and Karen Smith’s families.”

Karen Smith and Jonathan Martinez were both killed by Cedric Anderson, Smith’s estranged husband, when he walked into the special needs classroom where she was teaching 15 students, armed with a .350 revolver. He fired 10 times, also killing himself, according to police.
